To: All Current SPACE Members
From: The President, Nathan Block
February 10th, 1990
As of 2/9/90, I am SPACE's new President. Greg Howell has decided to resign due to his father's failing health and wishes to spend more time with his father. He therefore cannot put as much time into SPACE as he feels he should, so he has handed it over to me.
I have some things that need addressing. First of all you will notice the drastic change in our newsletter. My first act as President was to divide the MAST/SPACE newsletter due to cost. SPACE was offered a virtually free newsletter from a third party and I thought that due to our BBS being moved and money being short, this was a good move. I put together this newsletter, but I cannot do this every month. I need a volunteer for NEWSLETTER EDITOR.
The SPACE board has several vacancies. We need a MEMBERSHIP COORDINATOR, SECRETARY, the afore mentioned NEWSLETTER EDITOR, and possibly a treasurer. Another issue that has come up is whether SPACE and MAST should split and go separate ways. It has become obvious that some tension has come up between the two groups between various parties involved. Probably the best way to solve this would be to separate the two clubs. I personally do not have ANY hard feelings toward MAST, but I don't think that any computer club needs tension of this kind. If separation is the answer, separation it will be.
Therefore, I am asking every SPACE member to come to the next meeting which will be held on MARCH 9th. The meeting will start at 7:30PM, but doors open at 7:00PM for buying and selling purposes.
This will be the most important meeting of the year for SPACE. This meeting will decide SPACE's future. March 9th will determine which direction SPACE heads, either up or down. If you want to support a club that is here to support YOU, set aside MARCH 9th and come to the meeting. There will be some special things going on as well. Three special game DOMs will be available for sale as well as a software raffle. Also, there will numerous items for sale as always by various individuals. There will be a PROGRAMMER'S MEET going on in the conference room and our technician will be available for questions and equipment repair. And of course, the SPACE BOOK LIBRARY will be there with magazines, books and software for rental to club members.
I am asking EVERYONE to be there. SPACE is run by the members and only the members can decide where SPACE will head. Whether you come or not will voice your opinion about our club. Please come to the meeting on March 9th.
Sincerely,
